The Empress (Diabolic #2) Review

The Empress by S.J Kincaid

Wow, So many different feelings with this book than with The Diabolic.  I adored The Diabolic, absolutely loved it, and then The Empress just let me down.

Don’t get me wrong, I enjoyed The Empress but it was nothing like The Diabolic. I honestly felt like I was being thrown around from page to page. We jumped in not to long after the ending of The Diabolic and it immediately went into the politics and Tyrus being the Emperor.  Nobody wants Nemesis as the Empress and a very powerful Senator is on the path to over rule Tyrus. It didn’t feel like it flowed well at all, and for the most part I was confused as to what was going on.  The thing I truly enjoyed about Nemesis, was seeing her grow into her humanity and learning all of these different emotions, and I didn’t feel like we got that in The Empress. She was more involved in Tyrus than anything and she had major tunnel vision.  This sequel revolved around the politics of the series, and while the ending was a complete shock and very good, I just was hoping for so much more.  There were time jumps that didn’t even seem like time jumps, but I truly enjoyed the concept of the time jumps.   Neveni grew in this, she came into herself and became a force to be reckoned with.

Over all I gave this 3.5 stars.  It was enjoyable but flawed.  Heres to hoping book three will be better!!! the-empress
